Autograph letter signed : Renishaw Hall [near Sheffield], to Kenneth Clark, 1946 Dec. 16.

Sending her condolences on the recent death of his mother. Saying she is relieved to know he received her Shadow of Cain. Concerning Clark's submission of an essay on Edith Sitwell's verses to José García Villa, apologizing for the fact that Villa never responded to Clark; promising to cable him and ask about the status of the essay and the magazine. With a postscript detailing a conversation between Edith and her brother Osbert, who thought Edith knew about Clark's mother's death.

Kenneth Clark was an art historian and a patron of the arts. He was born in London, and educated at Winchester and Trinity College, Oxford, where he gained a second class in modern history. In the autumn of 1925, art historian Bernard Berenson asked him to assist him in the revision of his corpus of Florentine drawings.
